Vol. 2 No. 1 (2020): MAEH Journal of Environmental Health (MJEH) - The Langkawi Charter on Urban Health
MAEH Journal of Environmental Health Short Communication inaugural issue documented scientific discussion via Focus Group Discussion (FGD). The first MAEH Urban Health Forum 2019 was held in Langkasuka Hotel, Langkawi, Kedah, Malaysia on 17-18 June 2019. MAEH and co-organizers jointly invite key stakeholders from public sector, industry and researchers to explore challenges and opportunity across urban health initiatives including food safety, vector control, climate change, waste management and tobacco control. The forum was attended by more than 28 delegates from government and private sectors, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), academia and individuals. The five issues discussed during the forum was documented as "The Langkawi Urban Health Charter 2019". The objective of MAEH Urban Health Forum 2019 was to bring together those with expertise and practice to discuss environmental health issues that can impact the health of the urban community and recommend strategies to address them. MAEH and co-organizers would like to thank all the participants that contributed to the charter.
The first MAEH Urban Health forum was themed "Urban Health in Malaysia: Towards Livable Communities".The objective of the focus group discussion (FGD) is to bring together those with expertise and practice to discuss environmental health issues that can impact the health of the urban community and recommend strategies to address them.
